The Human Sexuality Research Center

Introduction

Owing to vast changes in education, politics, economy, and culture, worldviews and perspectives about gender relations are totally different from those in the past. As a result, there are lots of sexuality-related problems and issues that demand correct answers and reason able solutions from academics, scholars, counselors, and society in general in relation to human sexuality. Hence, the need to investigate deeply into issues related to sexuality education is forthright.

The Human Sexuality Research Center at Shu-Te University was established in August, 2000 with the approval from the Ministry of Education in June 2001. The research center is striving to set up the science database on human sexuality, hold academic conferences, provide consultancy services to develop local community services that cover all kinds of subjects and programs such as sexual education, sexuality consultancy, sexuality in civil society.

The research center has a director who presides over the business of the research center. There are several steering committees and advisory committees. The director selects professionals to serve, and sets up an education promotion group, a sexual cultural and creative product development group, and a sexual consultation group. Set up a team leader, appointed by the director to hire professionals, and set up a number of researchers to implement and promote the development of each team.
